Dick is the Founder of Scott Ventures I, Inc – a real estate brokerage, investment and development firm based in Silicon Valley.

Dick graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point and the Monterey College of Law in Monterey, California. Dick served in the US Army on active duty for over 5 years in various leadership and staff positions, and then in the US Army Reserves as a Company Commander based in San Jose. During Dick’s active duty, he deployed to Panama as part of Operation Just Cause which resulted in in the capture and incarceration of Panama’s dictator at the time, General Manuel Noriega. Dick is Airborne, Rigger, and Ranger qualified.

Dick began his formal commercial real estate career began in 1995 at CPS, the Commercial Real Estate Company, Silicon Valley’s leading brokerage firm at the time. He became a SVP/Principal there, then was recruited to manage the leasing team at Equity Office Properties , ultimately overseeing the leasing of ~10 M sf of Office, R&D and industrial product. EOP was the largest owner of Office properties in the USA at that time. Dick was subsequently recruited to rebuild several real estate teams, including a boutique development firm as a partner, a ~40 person brokerage team based in San Jose (Grubb & Ellis), and most recently as the Divisional Vice President of the Northern California offices of PS Business Parks (~7.5M sf). Dick is a California licensed real estate broker license, he serves on the board of the Silicon Valley chapter of the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties (past President) and was the past President of the Silicon Valley West Point Society.
